Ultra High-Range Cameras (1-million FPS +)
High-Range Cameras (Up to 1-million FPS & > $40,000)
Mid-Range Cameras (500 FPS and greater; and < $40,000)
Entry Level Cameras (250 FPS and greater; and < $20,000)
The breakdown of products by model is based on camera frame rate, primarily; and, in the case of the High-Range, Mid-Range, and Entry Level groups, cost is considered in addition to frame rate.
If you are looking for a camera for an application and you need 10,000 fps with good resolution, say 768 x 512, the Photron SA4 would be a good choice and you will find this camera in the 2nd category “High-Range Cameras”.
If you are looking for a camera with at least this same resolution (768 x 512) at 1000 fps, the HiSpec would be a potential camera in the Mid-Range category. In this case the HiSpec actually starts at under $20K, but its performance places it in the Mid-Range category. Mid-Range cameras will range in price from just under $20,000 to as high as $60,000.
The higher price Mid-Range cameras are in this category because their performance puts them here. If a cameras cost more than $40,000 it is because of some special feature they possess such as a Hi-G rating or built-in battery.
Good luck with your search.
